Poniente Golf Course, 10 June 2015
As our home course Bonalba Golf was hollow-tining this
week, our Captain arranged to have an unofficial Away-Day, in addition to the 6
Away-Days which qualify for the Bill Williams Trophy. We went to play
Individual Stableford on the par 62 Poniente course at Villaitana which is
located in the hills and woodlands next to the Championship course Levante. Although this course has only par 3’s and 4’s,
it was a good challenge of golf and tested our short game.
The final scores displayed are different from the
results read out at the prize giving as there was a discrepancy about the Slope
Chart at Villaitana and the official Federation course ratings but this did not
alter the placings. This competition did
not qualify for handicap adjustments but it counted towards the Consistency
Chart as it was a competitive challenge and we had 27 members supporting it.
Congratulations go to all the winners and a special
mention to Dennis who scored an Eagle on hole 3. Also it was good to see “Stormin’
Norman”, one of our octogenarians and supplier of fine drink and food on the
golf course, in the prizes.

Apart from Dennis’ eagle, there were four other twos today, from Jeff Murten on hole 4, Stan Tarabula on hole 11, Marie-Jo Lesot on hole 12 and Norman Emmerson on hole 15. The received the customary golf ball.
