2016: Indiv. Stableford (18.5.)

Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 18th May 2016

Today it was back to normal play at Bonalba after our Annual Away Trip last week to the Mar Menor. See the separate report of the trip.  With 39 players competing, we again used up all our allocated tee-times plus two additional slots.
The competition of the day was Individual Stableford and in addition there was the Vice-Captain’s Monthly Prize the format of which changes every month and is only ever revealed at the prize giving. This time it was the cumulative total on the par 3s and it was Christiane who had the best score.

The results at the top were very close and had to be decided on count-back of the back 9. Indeed, the overall results were very respectable with half of all players socring 30 and more points.  It was a perfect day for golf with lovely pre-summer weather and the course in good condition. But, nevertheless, why did nobody manage to get onto the green of hole 11? Especially Michael, who came nearest the pin on hole 14, the longest par 3 of the course, when, according to the result sheet, he only used a wedge to get onto the green?  We welcomed back Dennis, who, although narrowly missing out on the top five places, appeared true to form on the nearest the pin winners’ list.
Congratulations to the overall winner, Richard Davis, his 10 points for the Consistency Chart has given him a nice lead over Bob Crow.

Before prize giving, the Captain reminded everyone to put their names on the Booking List in consecutive order and not randomly as, if there is a shortage of tee-times, the last names on the list will have to be considered for a possible waiting list.

Summarising the results:
Vice-Captain’s Monthly Prize, best total on all par 3’s: Christiane Tarabula with 11 points.

Nearest the pin:
Hole 4             Dennis Pyman
Hole 8             Edi Rogers

There were no twos today.
