2016: Monthly Medal (4.5.)

Guess who got the "booby" prize!
Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 4th May 2016

We had another very good turn-out for our Monthly Medal competition taking up all our allocated tee-times which meant that our single figure handicap players who go off first in Medal competitions, had an early start at 8.08 hrs and were justifably excused from staying on for the prize giving as the last tee-time was 9.53 hrs. Fortunately, the weather was very pleasant so the players who finished and waited for the prize giving could enjoy a drink and a chat on the terrace of the club house.

The overall playing conditions and the good condition of the course resulted in some excellent scoring.  Looking at the back 9, Nino had the best back 9 with a net 32.  The second best back 9 was scored by the overall winner, Luc Verhaegen with a net 34, very closely followed by Chris with a net 34.5.  As the scores on the back 9 count to determine the winning places, it was Luc who won the May medal. Congratulations to Luc and, indeed, to all the players who made it on to the winners’ board as you had to play a net par for fifth place.  Hard luck to Chris, the first and second place couldn’t have been closer! Your turn next time!
Apart from the normal prizes for Medal Day, our Captain had three bags of golf balls to give out which were kindly donated by Greta who took time out to go “fishing” in the lakes with great success and donated “the fruit of her labour” as special prizes.  The bags went to Michael Davison, Peter Corbett and John King.  However, it is a mystery as to why they were chosen by our Captain to receive these prizes and she was adamant that this would not be revealed.  In any case, guys, we hope that these balls will serve you well in future games and who knows, on some of them you might even recognise your own marking and give them a second chance.

Next week most of us will be on the Away-Trip to the Mar Menor. Anyone who is not going on the trip and would like a game of golf Monday or Wednesday, please contact Brian Hines who is organising both days.

Regarding the Consistency Chart sponsored by Edi-Rent-a-Car, to give a chance to members who are not here all year round and consequently are at a disadvantage in accumulating enough points for a top place in the Chart, it was announced that there will be two interim prizes for the first and second part of the year in addition to the normal prizes for the overall winners.
