2016: Monthly Medal (6.7.)

The first five and our guest
Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 6th July 2016

With the Captain and Vice-Captain out of the country, it was yours truly who was organising this weeks competition and, in fact, will also be organising the next two Wednesdays.  So if there are any requests or cancellations, please contact Doris, her details to be found under “Contacts”.
Being the first Wednesday in the month, 28 of us competed for the Monthly Medal.  We just reached the attendance quota for awarding 5 prizes as less than 28 players would cut the prizes down to the first three places.  Looking at the results, there was a noticeable gap of 5 strokes between the third and fourth place.  In fact, there were 6 scores of net 77 shots and the fourth to sixth place each were only separated by 0.5 shots, so Michael who was in sixth place, being 0.5 shots behind Angel, was beaten for a prize by the narrowest of margins.  Dennis had the lowest gross score of 78. Congratulations to all and especially to this month’s winner, Eddy Fagg who posted back-to-back wins. His handicap has been coming down steadily and this win means a further reduction.
There was also one singles match between Nino Andres Aloras and Eddie Rogers, our sponsor of the Consistency Chart.  Nino eventually came out on top and also secured second place in the Medal competition, despite, as he told me, a quadruple bogy on the 5th.
The Happy Couple

Before prize giving we had the pleasure of welcoming Juan-Alberto of Bonalba Golf & Spa and his fiancee Eva to present them with a small gift and congratulate them on their forthcoming wedding and extend our very best wishes for a long and happy life together.

And after the prizes, some of us went to the Thai Restaurant Yaho where we enjoyed the Menu del Día.
