Today we played the last Monthly Medal competition of the
2016 season as our Society Year goes from February to January and we are
looking forward to the new Captain’s Drive-in on the first Wednesday in
Feburary.
The day started off with low temperatures but the sun
soon changed this and we were enjoying wonderful conditions in which to play
golf. However, despite the very pleasant
weather not everybody was able to take advantage of this as there was a
definite divide of results. From the 30 members competiting, there were some
excellent scores at the top and Chris with a net 66 coming in with the lowest
net score of this year’s Medal competition. But there were also 6 no-returns
and a few net scores of 90. Unfortunately, Santi missed out on the prizes. He
had the same score as Nino but lost on countback on the back 9. Congratulations to all the winners – a bunch
of steady players whose names crop up on the winning list on a frequent basis!
Finally, the Captain gave a vote of thanks to Stan
who, in the absence of Richard, has been dealing with the results of the
competitions and maintaining the Master Scoreboard.
Summarising the results:
Of the two guests, Nino’s son Ninolito won the guest
prize with 34 Stabelford points off a handicap of 1.

There were 2 twos today. Chris on hole 8, although not being the
nearest, and Nino on hole 14.
