Today we competed for the first Medal of 2018. As quite a few of our
members were still away or recovering from the year end festivities, we had a
diminished field of 24 members and Moe’s guest Alex, so the chances of winning
the Medal was somewhat greater than usual.
Also, the weather resembled more a nice summers’s day in the UK than the
normal January conditions. These
pleasant playing conditions were confirmed by the overall results, with the
first ten players scoring 75 or less. A
net 72, of which there were three, was only good enough for 5th
place but on this occasion, there was no prize for 5th place due to the reduced number
of players. The first four places were
also very close and had to be decided on countback.
Edi and Nino, who came second and fourth, also played their semi-final
of the Singles Knock-out and although Edi beat Nino to second place in the
Medal, Nino won the Knock-out, but only after they had played two extra holes! Edi’s second place in the Medal secured
him 2nd place in the Consistency Chart for 2017 of which he is the
sponsor. So, Edi, give yourself a treat on Presentation Night later on this
month.Top place went to our Treasurer James Burnet who confirmed his good form of late. Well done and congratulations to him and indeed to all of today’s winners!

were 2 twos today, from Stan and Santi, both on hole 8. They were awared the customary golf ball.

2nd place with a net score of 70 off 17 hcp – Edi Rogers
1st place with a net score of 70off 18 hcp – James Burnet, beating Edi on the back 9.
