2018: Team Game Matchplay (25.4.)

Who is that Blue intruder?
Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 25 April 2018

Today, our Captain again felt genereous with the prizes as we played Doubles Matchplay as a Team Game.  There were 35 members and one guest divided into “Pink” and “Blue” teams according to our older and newer Society shirt colours, so there was a 50/50 chance of winning a prize.  The object of the game was for each team to score as many points as possible where a win counted 2 points, a draw 1 point and a loss 0 points.
In the end, the “Blue Pairings” won 4 matches and the “Pink Pairings” also won 4 matches and one match was a draw.  This meant that each team had a total of 9 points.  The winning team was decided on countback of the actual results of each match and  congratulations go to the "Pinks" who came out on top.
It seems, that “pink” is the lucky colour as this was the third time we played a 50/50 game and the pink team won on every occasion.

Prior to prize giving, there were two announcements. Jan, the Competition Secretary, explained that the yearly Doubles and Singles Matchplay will take place from October to December with the finals being played in January 2019.  This time limit will make it easier for the members to decide whether or not they will be available to enter the competition.
Richard informed us of a change in venue of the next Bill Williams Away Day competition on 30th May. Due to changed dates of hollow-tining, Alicante Golf, as well as Bonalba Golf, are unplayable.  He managed to secure tee-times at short notice at La Galiana Golf near Gandia.  Although the travelling time from Bonalba is slightly longer than the average Away Day trip, La Galiana is a beautiful course and well worth the trip.
