The
Matchplay championships this year will be played during the months of October, November
and December, with the finals in January.
It
is hoped, this will encourage members to enter only if they are available for
the majority of these months. The draw will take place in September. There is a set date in the CBGS calendar for
the first round of each competition, namely:
Wednesday,
17th October – 1st round Matchplay singles
Wednesday,
24th October – 1st round Matchplay doubles
Members
will be asked personally by the Competition Secretary, Jan, if they wish to
enter and if they are available for the set dates. These three new initatives will hopefully
eliminate the need to disqualify those not available or willing to play their
matches by the set deadlines.
Sadly,
it may mean not so many members will enter the competitions but for those that
do, it will be an easier and more worthwhile experience. This year, we want to
have both competitions successfully completed.
